The nonprofit group continued to hold community events, but with protocols adapted to the public health crisis. Club members laid out trick-or-treat bags for kids at the Arlington Recreation Park last Halloween â along with bottles of hand sanitizers. They canceled last holiday seasonâs lighted vehicle and tractor parade in Arlington due to safety restrictions, but decided to come up with an alternative: inviting residents to decorate their vehicles with holiday lights and drive around the community. ....

In 2008 the club presented him with the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honour an individual member can receive, for his service in the Mitchell Lions Club. The beloved husband of Lois Heath, the pair owned and operated the family-owned Heath Furniture store downtown for approximately 25 years, but he was perhaps best known for his 60-years of involvement with the Mitchell Lions Club. ....
