Five people were displaced following a fire on Tuesday

Five people have been displaced following an early morning fire Tuesday, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department. The fire happened just before 7 a.m. in the 500 block of Ira Street. Firefighters reported seeing smoke from a two-story home. Everyone inside made it out to safety, according to the news release. It is estimated that the home suffered $10,000 in damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the release.

Fayetteville police investigating first homicide of 2021

Fayetteville police are investigating a shooting that  killed one man and injured another, according to a news release. Police were called to the 6400 block of Applecross Avenue just after 4 p.m. Friday on reports of a man shot inside a vehicle, the release said. The man died at the scene, and a second victim was found on the same street suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken by emergency personnel to the hospital for treatment, according to the release. Police are withholding the names of the victims until next of kin can be notified, according to a statement.  

Raeford man charged with harboring a fugitive

Raeford man charged with harboring a fugitive RAEFORD A Raeford man was arrested and charged with harboring a fugitive who was wanted by the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release. Enrico P. Leggett, 41, of the 1500 block of Pope Street in Raeford, was arrested Friday. Deputies say Leggett harbored Cortevin Jaquan Shaw, 29, back in December, according to a release. Deputies were attempting to serve arrest warrants on Shaw back in December when he jumped from a vehicle and ran. He fired several shots towards the deputy before running away, according to statements.   Shaw was arrested Dec. 23 on charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault on a law enforcement officer and resist, delay and obstruct, according to a statement.

3 charged in Harnett businessman s shooting death

LILLINGTON Three people have been charged in the shooting death of a Bunnlevel businessman, the Harnett County Sheriff s Office said Thursday. Charles Edward Bias, 51, of McLean Chapel Church Road in Bunnlevel, was shot to death at his business in the 6800 block of U.S. 401 South in Bunnlevel just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Harnett County Sheriff s Office news release. He was found with what deputies say appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. Courtney Carroll, 31, of the 100 block of Cynthia Lane in Spring Lake,  was arrested Wednesday; Jeremy Campbell, 28, of the 100 block of Ranger Lane in Spring Lake and Jordan Issac Nathaniel Stone, 20, of East Blue Street in Saint Pauls, were arrested Thursday, according to a Sheriff s Office news release.
