COLUMBUS, Ohio – After winning two NCAA matches in Columbus, the Ohio State women’s tennis team (23-3) now heads to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., site of the NCAA Championships. The No. 15 seed Buckeyes will face No. 2 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of a match between No. 7 Florida State and No. 10 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals Wednesday. The semifinals will be Friday May 21, with the championship Saturday May 22. COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a contest that saw five singles matches go to a third set, the No. 9 Ohio State women’s tennis team fell to No. 13 Northwestern, 4-3, Sunday in consolation play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Stillwater, Okla.
The Wildcats won the doubles point and Buckeye senior Luna Dormet tied the match with a straight-set victory on court six. The remaining five matches went to a third set, with four first set wins by the Buckeyes. Ohio State went ahead 3-1, as Irina Cantos Siemers won on court one and Isabelle Boulais was victorious on court two. Northwestern won the final three matches, overcoming first-set losses on courts three, four and five. The team point came down to a third-set tiebreaker on court five.
