Normal text size Very large text size Like many people last year, journalist Sarah Abo found herself having to master a brand new skill in the face of the pandemic. “I’d be walking down the street trying to exaggerate my smile with my eyes,” the Melbourne-based reporter recalls of her new-found talent for facial gymnastics due to mandatory mask-wearing. “It was the only way of communicating, so I really tried, as it’s such an important part of the human condition to interact with each other.” The value of this connection only became more apparent to Sarah when restrictions were lifted after Victoria’s second wave. “That first night, we got a booking at the local pub straight away. It was such a buzz, as everyone was so happy to be out. We were still in masks but when you were in a restaurant, you could take it off. It sounds silly but seeing other people’s faces again after so long was beautiful. It was so lovely to have that connection

Corsicana names new Main Street Director

By Mark Archibald Daily Sun Dec 19, 2020 Daily Sun FILE photo The Corsicana City Council approved Mayor Don Denbow’s appointment of Beverly Kevil to serve on the library board, as well as City Manager, Connie Strandrige’s recommendation that Amy Tidwell be appointed to serve as the city’s new Corsicana Main Street Director, at the Dec. 14 meeting. Tidwell replaces the former Main Street Director, Lauren Bedsole, who left the job approximately six weeks ago. Standridge called Tidwell, “an ideal candidate.” She is a Corsicana High School graduate who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance and business administration, from Texas Women’s University. She previously worked in Corsicana as Sweet Tangerine’s as store manager and social media coordinator. Tidwell said she was excited about the opportunity, and is looking forward to helping to bring people to the community.
