Get ready for a packed lineup. The City of Akron has released its list of events at Lock 3 for the month of June.
Concerts, festivals and community events will take place on the iconic Cleveland Clinic Akron General Stage at Lock 3.

Ready for normal? Akron s Lock 3 announces summer events

In a sign that Akron, like much of the rest of the nation, is getting back to something resembling normal life, the city s Lock 3 park has just announced a slate of evening concerts, festivals and community events for June.
Ranging from group Zumba and yoga sessions on Mondays to weekly Thursday night concerts beginning June 10, Friday night concerts beginning June 4, and events every Saturday this month, there s something for just about everyone on the agenda.
Lock 3 isn t confining its activities to the downtown venue, either. Movies on the Great Streets will bring film events to neighborhoods the city has been targeting with its Great Streets improvement program. Lock 3 is sponsoring movies in Kenmore, Merriman Valley and at Kerr Park, June 4, 5, and 12, respectively. One Night in Miami will show in North Hill on June. 19.

Akron s downtown Bowery Project might be the most high-profile example of the city s recent success in developing new housing, but it s far from the only one.
The housing and population initiative Akron began in 2017 was successful enough that Mayor Dan Horrigan is doing it again.
The city launched what it s calling the Planning to Grow Akron 2.0 plan on Wednesday, May 12, with an agenda that includes a slate of new programs, including many aimed at improving what the plan calls the city s middle neighborhoods. Those are described as areas of the city that are in generally good condition but could benefit from improvements to the housing stock, infrastructure, streetscape and landscaping to help maintain the neighborhoods viability and desirability.
