Dineo, the reality TV star and Metro FM DJ, produced the show through her production company, Brains At Work Media Productions.

Scandal! actress, Masasa Mbangeni,
Generations actor, Dumisani Mbebe and Nolwazi Shange is the main character.
Dineo told
Daily Sun the show has been eight years in the making.
“After having a baby girl, I started seeing the world through a darker lens, thinking about things like human trafficking,” she said.
Nomsa Philiso, the director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, says: Mzali Wam is set to be a thriller that will introduce viewers to the inner workings of a human trafficking syndicate, through the life of a young Ntokozo, in a story that will resonate with many South Africans. From the star-studded cast to the exceptional storyline, viewers will find themselves on the edge of their seats with every episode.
Set in Johannesburg,
Mzali Wam was created by industry heavyweights Dineo Ranaka and Siphosethu Tshapu of Brains At Work Media production. Mbebe will play Terror, a businessman who Joyce later discovers is not the person she thought he was.

Masasa plays Joyce, a woman whose child Ntokozo is stolen at birth.

Rising star Lungelo Mpangase plays Ntokozo. Joining Lungelo and Masasa are Nolwazi Shange and Dumisani Mbebe.

After Mzansi Magicâs most-loved family gave South Africans great, authentic TV over the past three seasons, Ntate Ranaka, Mama Siba, Manaka, Dineo, Mpumi, Mzingisi and Ranaka, return for season 4 amid fresh challenges â healing, finding a sense of belonging, keeping the family together and building intergenerational wealth and legacy.
Towards the end of season 3, viewers were invited to Lapeng la Ranaka Eatery as the family scrambled their resources and came together to open a restaurant at their family home in drama-filled episodes.
Viewers also got to see Mpumi, married to a German, unite with her fiercest rival Dineo, before causing her father to breakdown over her rape ordeal.
