Waltair Division achieves record loading, despite pandemic

Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved originating loading earnings of ₹811.61 crore in the closing month of this fiscal, compared to originating earnings of ₹753.53 crore made in the last month of 2019-20, achieving a growth of 7.71%, despite the COVID-19 situation.
During the 2020-21 fiscal, Waltair Division has showed good performance with the earnings to the tune of Rs. 7272.88 crore by transporting 61.13 million tonnes of freight at an average of running 2750 wagons a day. The division has maintained the momentum of highest-ever loading on the closing day with 81 rakes.

Women’s Day celebration by District Legal Services Authority here was more meaningful with officials choosing to empower women through their right to vote.
While touching upon the rights and responsibilities of women, District Principal Judge, A. Muthusaratha, underlined that women should work with self-confidence. She said that women were making great achievements in all spheres of life.
On the occasion, revenue officials conducted a special programme to demonstrate how to cast votes using electronic voting machine.
“In initial years, women were denied the right to vote. This right has come to the women after a long struggle and hence women should make it their duty to cast their votes,” said Ms. Muthusaratha.

In a progressive move towards gender equality and women empowerment, the Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway created history by running a freight train (TVSG/MB 28764) with all-female guard and crew.
