The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will begin renovation of the Manti Temple about Oct. 1 and build the Ephraim Temple about seven miles away to preserve the pioneer temple and improve access to temple ordinances.

Church to break ground on 2 Utah temples this summer

SALT LAKE CITY The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will break ground on two new temples in Utah this summer, officials announced Tuesday. The groundbreaking for the Syracuse Utah Temple will take place in June with Elder Kevin R. Duncan of the Quorum of the Seventy presiding over the event. The Deseret Peak Utah Temple groundbreaking, which is in Tooele, will be held in May and Elder Brook P. Hales of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside over the event. The temple in Syracuse is a three-story, 89,000 square-foot temple that was announced by President Russell M. Nelson in April of 2020. It will be located on a 12-acre plot at the intersection of 2500 West and 1025 South.
