KP govt to determine forest areas in merged districts

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to carry out legal classification of forested areas in the newly merged districts with the aim to preserve the trees.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Forest Department with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair, said an official handout. The matter will be presented to the provincial cabinet for final approval.
Provincial Ministers Ishtiaq Urmar, Anwar Zeb Khan, Iqbal Wazir, MPAs from merged districts, Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Secretary forests Islam Zeb, Secretary law Masood Ahmad and other relevant senior officials attended the meeting.

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has extended the order retraining the settlement officer Chitral from handing over the land record to the commissioner Malakand, the deputy commissioners of Upper and Lower Chitral districts and Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR).
The two-member PHC bench comprising Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah extended the restraining order on a writ petition filed in 2019 to challenge the issuance of a 1975 notification that had declared all the mountains, wastelands and riverbeds as the property of the provincial government.
The court ordered the relevant authorities to submit replies in the case and adjourned the hearing.

Cabinet panel approves giving part of Chashma Canal to Punjab

LAHORE: The 66th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business was held at Civil Secretariat and it approved many proposals.
Punjab Minister for Law and Cooperatives Raja Basharat chaired the meeting while it was attended by the Senior Member Board of Revenue, irrigation secretary, I&C secretary and other officers concerned. The meeting considered legal amendments and drafts proposed by various departments.
The meeting approved the proposals and legal amendments, including proposal to hand over lower part of Chashma Right Bank Canal from Wapda to Punjab in the light of the decision of Common Interest Council. It also approved an agreement between the Board of Revenue Punjab and NADRA for online verification of data for issuance of computerized national identity cards, a consultancy agreement with the World Bank to deal with natural disasters and climate change.
