Cape Town - The Cabinetâs approval of the publication of the Green Paper on Marriages for public consultation received mixed reactions from religious organisations and political parties, with the Al Jama-ah party calling it harmful, and ACDP saying it is a waste of money.
In a statement, the Cabinet spokesperson Phumla Williams said the paper seeks to work towards the development of a new Single Marriage Bill and aligns the marriage regime with the constitutional principle of equality.

Kochi:
Rejecting the decision for nearly five decades, the Kerala High Court has restored the divorce rights of Muslim women without resorting to judicial proceedings.
A bench of the High Court ruled in a set of cases that arose from various proceedings by different courts before obtaining various reliefs.
The bench rejected a 1972 court ruling that prohibited Muslim women from resorting to extra-judicial methods of divorce.
