Chef Johnny Hernandez feels his iconic River Walk eatery is ready for a new concept amid changes at the Pearl.
Hernandez met with Pearl representatives recently to discuss plans to transform La Gloria at the Pearl into a new restaurant featuring South American dishes, the San Antonio Business Journal reports. We think it s time to create a new brand create a new concept. One that is as impactful and as new and exciting as La Gloria was 12 years ago, Hernandez tells the Business Journal.

The Pearl is in the process of completing its parking transformation, which will update the parking lot under Highway 281 into a paid parking lot, remove the lot in front of what was formerly the Full Goods building, and close off Karnes Street to vehicle traffic.

Two new restaurants are planned for the Pearl’s Full Goods building, according to state filings.
A restaurant listed as Paperboy SATX has plans to renovate the former Green Vegetarian Cuisine space at 200 E. Grayson St., #120, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
It’s unclear whether Paperboy is a second location of the Austin-based breakfast sandwich joint that opened in July 2020. The Austin design firm listed on the San Antonio project, Chioco Design, is the same firm that designed the Austin location, according to its website.
