James J. Busuttil Appointed by Aerkomm on their Board of Directors


Aerkomm Inc.  a publicly-traded holding company whose operating subsidiary, Aircom Pacific, Inc., is developing in-flight entertainment and connectivity, or IFEC, solutions, today announced that it has appointed James J. Busuttil to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Busuttil has served as a member of our Board of Directors since December 2017. Dr. Busuttil is an attorney admitted to practice before the courts of New York State since 1983, as well as numerous U.S. Federal Trial and Appeals Courts, practicing international, financial and corporate law.
Dr. Busuttil was elected as a Life Fellow of the U.K.-based Institute of Directors (IoD). Members are invited to become Fellows of the IoD based on their substantial and sustained experience and contribution to business. Fellows are required to have been a company director for at least five years and, at some point during this period, the entity must have had an annual turnover or budget that exceeds £10m. ....

The new rules on campus sexual-assault charges are working. So why change them?
In April, the University of Arkansas became the first school in the country to admit the obvious: Procedures promulgated in 2020 by former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos might have prevented an unjust finding of guilt in a campus sexual-assault case. In a letter to a student identified only as John Doe, the university’s coordinator for Title IX the 1972 law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal money acknowledged that, “given the closeness of the evidence in the case, the revised procedures could have led to a different outcome” for Doe. “Different outcome” is a euphemism for exoneration, avoiding a conviction by a star chamber that could have ruined this young person’s life. ....
