Cooler temperatures Thursday into Friday helped firefighters who are trying to get a handle on two fires burning in Siskiyou County.
As of Friday morning, the Lava Fire and Tennant Fire destroyed more than 50 miles of forest land.
The Lava Fire is burning about three miles northeast of the city of Weed in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
The Tennant Fire, burning northeast of the Lava Fire, about three miles northwest of Bray in the Klamath National Forest. It was first reported on Monday.
