MUMBAI: A driver heading to Mumbai was killed when he lost control of his car, jumped the divider and landed on the Gujarat lane of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Manor in Palghar district and crashed into an oncoming vehicle on Monday.

Shobitkumar Das (41), driving a Chevrolet Beat car was headed to Mumbai at around 10am. He was travelling alone. At Padospada village in Durves, Manor on the highway, Das who was reportedly speeding lost control of the vehicle and jumped the divider. The car landed on the Gujarat lane and collided with an oncoming car. The driver of the oncoming car and two passengers sustained serious injuries.
Fire had spread to some parts of the Tungareshwar forest range as well.
MUMBAI: A fire was reported in the forest on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Vasai on Friday night.
The fire was noticed by a motorist on the highway at Sativali around 9pm. He informed the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) fire brigade.

Fire personnel reached the base of the forest but the fire had spread to some parts of the Tungareshwar forest range.
