Presidential hopefuls are making frequent visits to the financial district of Yeouido in Seoul, apparently seeking to win the hearts and minds of retail investors who have become an influential voting bloc since the stock market boom that started last year.
On Friday, former Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) Chairman Lee Nak-yon, one of the ruling party s presidential contenders, attended a roundtable held by DPK lawmaker Hong Sung-kook at the Korea Financial Investment Association headquarters building on Yeouido.
A vetting committee has been set up in Hong Kong to screen out unpatriotic candidates in elections.

Hong Kong, April 4 (ANI): Under China s overhaul of the electoral system of Hong Kong, a vetting committee has been set up to screen out unpatriotic candidates, which will consider previous actions and words by an individual, according to the city s justice minister.
Hong Kong s Justice Secretary Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah said the new committee would receive advice from the police s national security unit and a commission led by the chief executive and supervised by Beijing, before making a decision, reported South China Morning Post (SCMP).
