Sadly, the start of the pandemic meant the end of
travel and tourism as we know it.
Although South Africans once again have the freedom to go anywhere
they please within the country s borders, and can even head out to some other
countries, we are all still very aware of the fact that the tourism,
hospitality, and travel industries have taken and continue to take a hard knock.
That’s why these eight nominations, and possible wins, could mean
so much for our local industry.

Several Durban tourism and travel businesses have been nominated in several categories in the prestigious international awards.
Durban’s eight top business travel and tourism establishments have been nominated in several of the 28th World Travel Awards’ most sought after categories for 2021.
Durban has received four direct nominations this year – Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2021, Africa’s Leading City Destination 2021, Africa’s Leading Festival and Event Destination 2021 and Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conferences Destination 2021.

This time, the ancient citadel competes to be South America s Leading Tourist Attraction, an award it has obtained for the last three years in a row (2018, 2019, and 2020) in the regional edition of the World Travel Awards.
