Hospitals accused of lying to care homes in rush to free up beds at start of the pandemic

Hospitals have been accused of lying to care homes about the presence of Covid-19 on their wards as they rushed to free up beds at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 25,000 hospital patients were discharged into care homes in a four-week period in March and April last year, which has been blamed in part for seeding coronavirus in those locations.

As the officer approached the intersection of Highway 80 and Gallatin Street in Jackson, he saw the motorcycle strike a GMC Yukon, according to Greg Flynn, spokesman for the city of Pearl.Jackson police are investigating the crash, Flynn said.

Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. served in the Illinois House of Representatives for eight years after retiring from a lengthy career as a science teacher and administrator in East St. Louis School District 189. He sat on the East St. Louis City Council for 20 years and is the father of Emeka Jackson-Hicks, the city’s former mayor.
