Bedford / St. Martin s Names Ten New Scholars for its 2021 Advisory Board

Ten graduate students were selected for the Bedford New Scholars program, and will offer insights into the future of teaching materials for composition courses.
Macmillan Learning Logo NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 28, 2021 Bedford/St. Martin’s, a Macmillan Learning imprint, announced the members of its 2021 Bedford New Scholars Advisory Board today. The Advisory Board was established in 2008 as a way for Bedford/St. Martin’s to hear from promising graduate students about the teaching challenges they face and the research that excites them. This year, the scholars will focus primarily on three critical topics: student engagement, online learning, and creating more inclusive classrooms.

The English division of the School of Arts, Humanities, and English at Diné College is hosting a two-day virtual conference entitled, “Still Sacred: First-Year Writing at the Tribal College.” The conference is organized around re-envisioning a writing curriculum that meets the needs of the college’s students, with presentations and workshops offered by scholars in both writing studies and Indigenous studies.
The conference will explore topics ranging from service learning with writing, universal design strategies based in neurodivergence, and considering Indigenous paradigms in the writing classroom. Presentations include “Serving and Learning as We Write” by Isabel Baca of the University of Texas at El Paso; “Universal Design for Learning and Neurodivergence in the Writing Classroom: A Class for All” by Dev K.
