Acadiana School Closures for Wednesday, March 17
As the threat of severe weather heads towards Acadiana, many Parishes are closing school early in an effort of public safety.
Below is the school closure information we have with the help of our media partner KATC for Wednesday, March 17, 2021.This list will be updated as we get new information.
Acadia Parish
Superintendent Scott Richard tells KPEL that schools will have an early lunch and dismiss around 11:30 a.m. Richard says the district plans to start the process of dismissing students after that.
Evangeline Parish
Evangeline Parish Schools and school board offices will be closing at 2:00 pm.
Weather Forces Lafayette Public Schools to Dismiss Early
Today s severe weather is prompting Lafayette Parish public school officials to dismiss students early today.
According to the school district, all high schools, including David Thibodaux STEM and Lerosen Prep, will dismiss at 11 a.m. The Early College Academy, Milton Elementary/Middle, and all elementary schools except for Alice Boucher, J. Wallace James, Myrtle Place, and Truman, will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Those four excluded schools will close at 12:15 p.m. All middle schools will close at 12:15 p.m.
In addition, the second session at the Edward J. Sam Accelerated School is canceled. Students who normally would attend the W. D. and Mary Baker Smith Career Center during the second half of the school day will remain at their base schools.

Schools in Acadiana are beginning to announce early dismissal times due to the forecast threat of severe weather on Wednesday afternoon.
Acadia Parish
According to Superintendent Scott Richard, Acadia Parish Public Schools will be dismissing early on Wednesday, March 17, due to inclement weather threat later this afternoon. The district plans to start dismissal after early lunch has been served around 11:30 am.

Evangeline Parish
Evangeline Parish School Superintendent Darwan Lazard says that all public schools and district offices will be closing at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 17 due to severe weather.
11:00 a.m. Dismissal Time: High Schools, including:- David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy – Lerosen Preparatory School
11:35 a.m. Dismissal Time: All Elementary Schools, excluding- Alice Boucher Elementary School- J. Wallace James Elementary School-Myrtle Place Elementary French Immersion Academy- Truman Early Childhood Education CenterThis does include:- Milton Elementary /Middle School – Early College Academy (ECA) – no busses running today
12:15 p.m. Dismissal Time: All Middle Schools, including the following Elementary Schools:- Alice Boucher Elementary School- J. Wallace James Elementary School- Myrtle Place Elementary French Immersion Academy- Truman Early Childhood Education Center
