The coming days would see political parties from West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry slug it out to form governments during the state assembly elections. The four states and one Union territory are scheduled to go to poll starting from March 26. While the ruling TMC is vying to retain power for a third striaght term in West Bengal, in Tamil Nadu, the ruling alliance is being challenged by the DMK-Congress combine. Just like TMC in West Bengal, BJP is trying to retain power in Assam and try and form the government in Kerala for the first time. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 2.
