Carlisle man jailed for not paying fine

Jailed: The defendant was sentenced at Carlisle s Rickergate court MAGISTRATES have jailed a 39-year-old Carlisle man for 28 days for failing to pay an old fine of more than £2,000 and not keeping appointments with his probation officer. Peter Christopher Hall, of Cant Crescent, Upperby, pleaded guilty to breaches of his court-imposed supervision requirements - part of an earlier sentence. He missed an appointment on March 12 and failed to maintain contact with his probation officer between March 10 and 19, Carlisle s Rickergate court heard. He admitted a third breach in that he had no reasonable excuse for failing to stay in touch. The key part of his sentence was for failing to pay an outstanding fine of £2,216 which the court imposed in October of 2015.
