Breaking News | Breaking News Zulum closes NYSC IDP camp, resettles 1,464 Borno households

Views: Visits 19 Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has closed an internally displaced persons, IDP, camp located at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state and relocated 1,464 IDP households to Auno.  The relocated IDP households were displaced from Konduga and Bama Councils during the 12-year Boko Haram insurgency in the state. With the closures of NYSC and Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGOLIS) camps, 25 IDP camps remain to be closed this year by the state government. While declaring the camp closed on Monday in Maiduguri, the State Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Mustapha Gubio said, “The relocated IDPs were given three options of resettlement in Auno, Maiduguri metropolis and their respective communities.”

Borno governor extends service years of tertiary institution staff to 65

TODAY March 10, 2021 Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the service elongation of academic staff of tertiary institutions in Borno State. Zulum has assented to the bill passed by the Borno State House of Assembly on the service elongation. A statement from the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Baba Sheikh Haruna, indicates that, the tenure of service year of the academic staff is now 65 years of retirement age and 40 years of service. ” The approval followed a bill sent to the legislature by the Executive for the elongation of service year of academic Staff of tertiary institutions in the country.

Zulum uncovers 650 ghost families in Borno IDP registers

Punch Newspapers Sections Kayode Idowu, Maiduguri BORNO State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has discovered 650 ghost households during a surprised midnight visit to an internally displaced persons’ camp in Maiduguri. The governor had around midnight on Sunday showed up at Mohammed Goni College of Islamic Legal Studies in Maiduguri, where IDPs from Abadam Local Government Area of northern Borno were being camped. According to a statement by the governor’s Spokesman, Mallam Isa Gusau, the governor on arrival at the camp immediately closed the entrance and supervised a headcount to identify actual IDPs in order to put a stop to rampant cases of dubious residents pretending to be displaced.
