Bolton town centre flattened to make way for regeneration

COUNCIL bosses have recommitted to regenerating the town centre, with work well underway to transform large areas of the town. Work has begun at numerous developments across the town centre, including plans to build 124 town houses around St George’s Road and Bark Street, and the new YMCA facility in Deansgate. The council has also given an update on when it expects work to begin on the redevelopment of the Crompton Place Shopping Centre. Plans are being put in place by the Crompton Place developers, Bolton Regeneration Ltd, to start demolition of the shopping centre towards the end of the year.

Go-ahead to build 90 homes in Herefordshire village

Councillor Terry James proposed approving the scheme and Tony Johnson reluctantly seconded his motion. “I find myself extremely disappointed with this whole application,” coun Johnson said. “It just seems like an attempt to squeeze as many houses as you can get on the available space. “However, as I understand it, I cannot see any clear reason to refuse this application if I could, I would be putting it forward and opposing it. “I can’t see anyway we could stop it as it is.” Councillor Toni Fagan asked for conditions for water harvesting and a 100% hedgehog access is incorporated in the garden fencing to be placed on the planning permission.

Local joint venture secures future for Stanton Ironworks

Local joint venture secures future for Stanton Ironworks A joint venture between two prominent Derbyshire business families has completed a deal to secure the future of the former Stanton Ironworks in Ilkeston. The 192 acre site at Lows Lane, Ilkeston, has been acquired by Verdant Regeneration Ltd from previous owners, Saint Gobain, in a deal brokered by JLL. Verdant Regeneration is a joint venture and private endeavour between owners from established local firms Ward and Trust Utility Management, who already have existing facilities adjacent to the site. The team has ambitious plans to transform the former steel works - one of the largest potential development sites in the East Midlands - into a thriving national distribution, logistics and rail freight hub for the Midlands, to be called New Stanton Park.
