New LB system to be based on population

LAHORE: The participants of a meeting chaired by Senior Punjab Minister Abdul Aleem Khan at the Chief Minister s House discussed the new local body system.
The meeting was participated by Provincial Ministers including Law Minister Raja Basharat, Mian Mahmood ur-Rasheed, Hashim Javan Bakht, Sibtain Khan, Mian Khalid Mehmood, Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak, Sardar Asif Nikai, Chaudhry Akhlaq Hussain and Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din in which various proposals were presented for the establishment of new local bodies in Punjab. The reorganization of the local government system included formation of Municipal Committees, Town Committees and Metropolitan Corporations in various cities of the province.
LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar says complaints of violations of the minority rights are more in the advanced countries than in Pakistan.
He says he has spent years in England and travelled to other countries where the Muslims are not enjoying equal rights for their cultural and religious activities as compared to the minorities living in Pakistan.
Mr Sarwar was addressing a ceremony organised after the inauguration of a water filtration plant at the training college of the National Highways and Motorways Police in Sheikhupura on Monday.
NH&MP Inspector General Kaleem Imam, Punjab Minister for Human Rights Ijaz Alam, provincial minister for disaster management authority Mian Khalid Mehmood, commandant training college Mehboob Aslam, DIG Chaudhry Sultan and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Two brothers ‘killed’ by uncles for land

Two brothers were allegedly murdered by their uncles over a land dispute in the limits of Khurrianwala police station on Friday. Police said that 18-year-old Shahbaz and his older brother 27-year-old Shahryar were present at their home in Ghousia Colony, Khurrianwala when unidentified persons killed them with a blow of sharp-edged weapons.
Reportedly, the victims and their father had a dispute with their extended family over inherited agricultural land. Police arrested three persons involved in the double murder and shifted the bodies to a hospital for postmortem and launched an investigation.
