Snowmobiles and delayed Polar Fest activities bring big day to Detroit Lakes
More than 500 snowmobiles, a dozen larger-than-life kites and hundreds of ice fishermen gathered on Detroit Lake Saturday, Feb. 20, after cold weather delayed some Polar Fest 2021 events last week. Members of the ULTRA Snowmobile Club said it may have been their highest attended in nearly two decades.

Poles N Holes, kite flying both postponed to Feb. 20
The Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary Club announced Wednesday afternoon that its annual Poles N Holes Ice Fishing Derby which was already rescheduled once, from Feb. 6 to Feb. 13 has been postponed again due to the subzero temperatures that have continued to dominate local weather forecasts heading into the weekend. The Kool Kites on the Lake event that was scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 14, has also been postponed. Both events will be held Saturday, Feb. 20.
