CJC Faculty Harrison Hove and Clay Calvert named Teacher and Teacher/Scholar of the Year
Hove is the second CJC faculty member in a row to win Teacher of the Year; Calvert was the first CJC and UF Law faculty member to win Teacher/Scholar of the Year Graphic by Alexandra Brown
Harrison Hove and Clay Calvert, J.D., Ph.D. two faculty members within the College of Journalism and Communications were named Teacher of the Year and Teacher/Scholar of the Year respectively for the 2020-2021 school year.
Faculty members are nominated by students, faculty and staff members, or even themselves to be honored with the UF Teacher of the Year award. Nominees were judged based on their excellence, effectiveness, and innovation within the classroom.

After months of work, updates to the City of Howellâs sign ordinance are up for final approval.
The council earlier introduced an ordinance to update sign standards throughout the City in zoning ordinance. Carlisle Wortman & Associates worked to completely overhaul the ordinance during the pandemic in order to bring it into compliance with recent Supreme Court cases. The Planning Commission has been reviewing the proposed changes for several months and after final revisions to the proposed language, has recommended approval to Council.
Mayor Nick Proctor commented that the review was pretty much predicated on a Supreme Court case involving the town of Gilbert, Arizona. He commended the Cityâs Community Development Director Tim Schmitt and Carlisle Wortman, who did the majority of the update.
