Special s Ryan O Connell reveals that ridiculous Lil Kim scene was almost very different How Many Licks? almost didn t make it on screen. 23/05/2021
Special s second season dropped on Netflix earlier this week and, if you ve already binged your way through it, you ll be very familiar with that already iconic Lil Kim scene.
The new season of
Special, which stars creator and writer Ryan O Connell as Ryan Hayes, a gay man with cerebral palsy, features an incredible scene in which a slower, sad version of rapper Lil Kim s very NSFW song, How Many Licks? is performed on stage by Ryan and his friend Kim Laghari (Punam Patel).

Has a show ever been more aptly named than
Special? Ryan O Connell s semi-autobiographical story is groundbreaking in every sense of the word. And no, we re not just talking about season two s already
iconic rendition of How Many Licks?
Now that the length of each episode has been doubled in
Special s second – and final – season, there s even more space to explore the often unseen intersection between disability and queerness that this show depicts so well. We obviously are full of emotional moments, but it s done through this LOL lens, says Ryan, and that s more true than ever in season two. With a script that effortlessly juggles the fetishisation of cerebral palsy with a sad version of Lil Kim s cunnilingus anthem,

There’s one key word in Gov. Jim Justice’s recent decision to allow bars and restaurants to resume 100 percent capacity. It’s the word allow.
Unlike when Justice last year shut down bars and restaurants to in-person clientele, the governor in this case did not mandate that bars and restaurants return to full capacity; instead, he gave owners of those businesses the option to decide what is best for them and their employees. A case in point came with a story we did last week on the lifted capacity restrictions.
Generations Restaurant and Pub owner Mike Duplaga was ecstatic to be at full capacity; Later Gator’s Mitchell Haddad remained cautious with how that establishment will allow patrons.
