New COVID vaccination clinic coming to Mt. Brydges

Shipments of COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in London and area during the coming weeks, enough to open a second clinic to inoculate people in Mt. Brydges by the end of February, health officials announced Thursday.
It comes on the heels of a re-boot for the region’s original vaccination centre, at the Western Fair District Agriplex, which will open again on Monday after closing Jan. 22 due to Canada-wide shortages of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. ....

Strathroy Hospital Outbreak Declared Over

An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance’s (MHA) Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital has been declared over by Middlesex-London Health Unit. The outbreak had been declared on the second floor Inpatient Unit on January 15th and involved one patient and four staff. As there have been no further cases, the Inpatient Unit has been reopened to admissions. Upon declaring the outbreak, immediate precautions were implemented, including enhanced cleaning and prevalence testing in 100 staff and physicians. The Hospital will continue with all its pandemic protocols including restrictive visitor policy, enhanced cleaning and active screening of all patients and approved visitors. ....

SMGH Declares 2nd Floor Outbreak

For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) is facing an outbreak.
The release that was sent to myFM Friday afternoon says the outbreak, declared by the hospital, is on the second floor of the impatient unit.
According to Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) President and CEO Todd Stepanuik, the hospital is working in conjunction with the Middlesex-London Health Unit in the investigation.
Enhanced safety measures will include closure of the unit to new admissions and enhanced cleaning and disinfection.
