COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After a year for school districts across the country that was unlike any in recent history, five Columbia residents are asking voters for a spot on the seven-member Board of Education.
Two seats are up in Tuesday s election, currently filled by Susan Blackburn and Teresa Maledy.
Blackburn, the vice president of the board who was originally elected in 2018, dropped out of this race in January after deciding to not seek another term.
Maledy s term is also set to expire, and she is asking voters to let her keep the seat.
Luke Neal, Katherine Sasser, Aron Saylor and Jeanne Snodgrass are also seeking one of the two school board seats up for election. The two with the highest vote totals when the ballots are tallied will the race.
