MHNHA announces Community Grants Program 2021

The Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area (MHNHA) is seeking applications for its Community Grants Program 2021 to provide strategic investments in heritage sites, events, programs, and other projects of cultural, educational, and recreational value within the boundaries of the MHNHA. MHHAA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was named by Congress as the local coordinating entity. Its mission is to preserve, enhance, interpret, and promote the cultural and heritage assets of the region in a manner that enhances exposure, education, and economic growth. Goals MHHAA offers grants for innovative projects that will help accomplish the goals and objectives defined in the Management Plan.

Mississippi Hills taking grant applications through Jan. 29

TUPELO • For the sixth consecutive year, the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area is offering grant money for its dues-paying members to help them promote their communities. Applications for the 2021 Community Grants Program will be accepted through Jan. 29. The Grant Committee will review and rank the applications in February. In March, successful applicants will be contacted. Since introducing the grant program in 2016, more than $800,000 has been awarded, along with another $51,000 in special project funds. MHNHA offers grants for projects that will help accomplish the goals and objectives defined in its Management Plan. The program is designed to “provide strategic investments in heritage sites, events, programs and other projects of cultural, educational and recreational value within the boundaries of the MHNHA.” The federal funds for the program are provided to MHNHA through the National Park Service and require a 1:1 match.
