Photo: ACIA Aero Leasing Green Africa Airways reveals first routes In a statement released on Tuesday, Green Africa Airways says it will start flying from Lagos to the Nigerian cities of Akure, Ilorin, Abuja, Enugu, Owerri, and Port Harcourt. The statement says further destinations will get added as the airline scales up its operations. But already, plans are underway to establish a couple of bases outside Lagos.

Green Africa takes delivery of first aircraft

Share Green Africa, Nigeria’s Lagos-based value airline, has taken delivery of one of its first ATR 72-600. The aircraft arrived in Lagos on Friday, April 23 with a lot of fanfare. The ATR-72-600 plane is the first of the three aircraft currently leased from ACIA Aero Leasing, a regional aircraft lessor with offices in Ireland, Mauritius, France and South Africa. The new entrant carrier recently unveiled the livery of two aircraft (5N-GAE and 5N-GAA) with the third aircraft (5N-GAD) now beautifully wrapped in the Green Africa livery in preparation for the final lap of the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) in process.

Nigeria s Green Africa brings in ATR 72s for start-up

Nigerian start-up carrier Green Africa Airways has received its first aircraft, an ATR 72-600, at its base in the city of Lagos. Green Africa is taking three ATRs through an agreement with ACIA Aero Leasing, which is part of Mauritius-based ACIA Aero Capital and has leasing offices in several countries including Ireland and France. The initial turboprop (5N-GAE) was originally delivered to Brazilian carrier Azul in 2012 and subsequently operated by Air Tahiti. It arrived at Lagos Murtala Muhammed airport on 23 April bearing the temporary South African registration ZS-XZD. Green Africa says a second former Azul aircraft (5N-GAA) and a third ATR, to be registered 5N-GAD, have also undergone painting and that the Nigerian carrier is on the “final lap” of the air operator’s certificate process. This will include demonstration flights on the network.
