MADRID â When John J. Friot Jr. takes a bicycle ride next month, heâll trek more than 60 miles across St. Lawrence County and visit three schools and a state park.
In his second ride for Team A to Z, Mr. Friot will help raise money for the local organizationâs scholarship fund on Aug. 23. The fund supports high school graduates wanting to work with people with autism and differing abilities.
With his wife Jessica J. Friot and two kids, Mr. Friot lives south of the village of Canton, near Pyrites. Some 17 miles north in Madrid, the Moulton family is gearing up for the benefit ride in a different way.

MASSENA The Massena Rotary Club will hold its annual “Spring Pancake Day” and like last fall’s event, this will be a drive-thru style event due to the pandemic.
The meal will be held Saturday, April 24 from 7 a.m. until noon at the First United Methodist Church Hall, 189 Main St.
Each meal consists of three large pancakes, butter, real New York Maple syrup and three sausage links, for $6.
If possible, pay in cash or check, but credit and debit cards will be accepted with a small fee.
Patrons will remain in their vehicles while masked volunteers will collect payment and deliver meals. Patrons are asked to wear their masks as well.

MASSENA The Massena Rotary Club is supporting the food pantries in Massena with contributions during this holiday season with donations totaling over $5,000.
The club donated $1,750 to St. Peter’s Outreach Ministry, formerly St. Vincent de Paul. The organization serves over 377 families and 555 children. In addition to food and clothing provided to all households, children are given three gifts, pajamas, and a book. Coats are also provided if needed.
The club also donated $1,850, including a $100 donation from an individual Rotarian, to the Massena Neighborhood Center to assist their holiday program. The Neighborhood Center is serving 248 families including 352 adults, 303 children and 63 senior citizens by providing food including a turkey, rolls and eggs. A $35 gift card is also prov
