Sharyland ISD voters reject multi-million dollar bond proposal – again 8 hours 14 minutes 54 seconds ago Saturday, May 01 2021 May 1, 2021 May 01, 2021 4:47 PM May 01, 2021 in Election Coverage Share: Sharyland ISD voters once again voted no against a multi-million dollar bond proposal to renovate the school district. The $35 million bond proposal was narrowly defeated by six votes. Voters struck down a similar bill in the November 2020 election. School board members said the proposal was desperately needed and it would’ve renovated three of the school campuses. On the school board, incumbent Jose Pepe Garcia will keep his seat after he finished with 55% of the vote over his challenger, Charlotte Hocott.

Matric results 2020: Western Cape Education Department...

I found the article by Nicky Roberts in In addition to her comments on each of the six metrics per province, she then calculates a poverty factor for each province. In her scoring, using her six metrics and the poverty factor, Eastern Cape, Limpopo and KZN are ranked first, second and third respectively.  The Western Cape (WC) is ranked sixth, having been first scored by her at number two, prior to the application of the poverty weighting.  It is very easy to slip into the comparison/competition narrative when comparing provincial matric results. Roberts’ article focuses us on a deeper and contextual analysis of the situation pertaining in each province. That is to be welcomed.

Hoosac Valley Regional Begins Budget Discussions

We are in the middle of budget season, Superintendent Aaron Dean said at Monday s school committee meeting. In the middle of everything we are in right now, we have to build a budget that is reflective of everything we want to do.   Business Manager Erika Snyder said the district anticipates a small increase in Chapter 70 education funding typical of past years. She said funding will likely go up $30 per foundation enrollment student.    All in all, she said, the district would be looking at a $21,875 increase that will likely not cover fixed increases.    We can t do much with that, Snyder said. Any kind of increase we find in our budget falls to the towns. So we have some work to do in terms of getting our budget to where we can present it to the School Committee and the towns.
