STRONGSVILLE, Ohio The Strongsville Veterans Memorial was conceived to raise public awareness about the extent to which veterans in our local community have protected the freedoms we enjoy. Special recognition is given to prisoners of war, medics and nurses.
It’s important that we express our gratitude while showing the world how very proud we are of our veterans.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio Members of the community gathered in Beachwood Wednesday for a rally in support of the nation of Israel amid the growing deadly conflict in the Middle East.
Participants met at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage at 5 p.m. before marching along Richmond Road to the Jewish Federation of Greater Cleveland. Speakers included federation board chair J. David Heller, Lydia Frankel of the Israeli-American Council, and Rabbi Stephen Weiss of the B nai Jeshurun Congregation.
The Israeli military and Hamas in the Gaza Strip have been exchanging rockets and airstrikes for days. So far, 53 Palestinians and six Israelis have been killed, including 15 children combined on both sides.

AJ shorts in the third place winner in the 13th annual Stop the Hate Youth Speak Out contest, hosted by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, awards $100,000 to 25 students in sixth-12th grades in 12 Northeast Ohio counties. The competition is rooted in the Jewish value of respect for all humanity.

At Tibor’s Kosher Meats, they chop the liver just so. That’s what has kept customers like Shirley, who is 84 and spoke on the condition her last name not be used because the shop has recently become the subject of scandal, coming back decade after decade.
The gleaming silver case always has what she wants, Shirley explained, and until recently, the man who often reached in and wrapped it up for her was the eponymous owner himself, Tibor Rosenberg.
“Is Tibor coming back?” Shirley asked at the cash register one recent day as she handed over a fistful of bills. The clerk grunted a curt “no,” and Shirley packed her change into her purse. She shook her head: “That’s too bad.”

BEACHWOOD, OH The winners of the 8th Annual Maltz Heritage Award were announced this week.
Carole F. Hoover and Vanessa L. Whiting were selected for their work in bringing positive change to the community and their philanthropic contributions in Northeast Ohio. They will be recognized during an awards ceremony on May 24.
The Maltz Heritage Award is given to persons or organizations that demonstrate leadership in the Northeast Ohio community and whose values align with the mission of the Museum to build bridges of tolerance and understanding with peoples of other religions, races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
