Many commuters are said to have died as a petrol tanker exploded in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital on Tuesday.
DAILY POST learnt that the tanker driving towards GTB, Kuto, Abeokuta fell and went up in flames immediately.
Several vehicles and motorcycles were trapped in the inferno. Many people struggled to escape being burnt.
Owodunni Yekinni, a civil servant at the Ogun State Ministry of Works told our correspondent how he escaped death.
According to Owodunni, the tanker had lost control and fell right beside his car, spilling its content.
Our correspondent who visited the scene of the incident, confirmed that an okada rider was burnt beyond recognition.

Unknown gunmen have abducted Prof. Aliyu Mohammed of the Department of Agriculture, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the abduction occured on Sunday night and the son of the Prof, Abdulaziz was also killed.
Mr Usman Aliyu, son of the kidnapped professor, told NAN that the incident took place on Sunday at about 10.30 p.m at Wusasa, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Aliyu also confirmed that the kidnappers also shot Malam Abubakar Kabir, who is a younger brother to the deceased (Abdulaziz Aliyu).
He said no sooner than he returned to the family house at 10.30 p.m on Sunday, he heard sudden gunshots and took cover by hiding somewhere in the compound.
