Coshocton area teacher gets prison for relationship with student

Newark Advocate NEWARK - A Coshocton area teacher and coach was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison in Licking County for a multiyear inappropriate relationship with a student athlete. Jessica Hamilton, 37, of Frazeysburg, entered a no contest plea to two counts of gross sexual imposition, both fourth-degree felonies, in Licking County Common Pleas Court. Assistant Licking County Prosecutor Paula Sawyers said Hamilton was originally indicted on sexual battery charges, but through plea negotiations, they agreed to two counts of gross sexual imposition for inappropriate touching. The touching occurred in three different counties - Tuscarawas (County), which is where the victim lived at the time; Coshocton County, where the school was; and Licking County, where the defendant lived at the time because the victim would spend nights at her house, Sawyers explained to The Advocate. The majority . occurred in Licking County, so we took the case.
