Marlboro Music Festival to buy idled Vermont college campus

MARBLORO, Vt. The Marlboro Music Festival has reached an agreement to buy the campus of the now-closed Marlboro College in Vermont, ending a year of uncertainty over the future of the campus.
Marlboro Board of Trustees chair Christopher Serkin said Thursday they came to an agreement with Democracy Builders Fund, which bought the campus following the closure of Marlboro College. The deal includes a settlement with the organization Type 1 Civilization, which has been engaged with Democracy Builders in a dispute over ownership.
The purchase price for the 533-acre campus was not released.

MARLBORO â The world-famous Marlboro Music Festival announced Thursday it has purchased its long-time home, the campus of now-closed Marlboro College, ending a year of turmoil over the future of the Potash Hill campus.
Christopher Serkin, president and chair of the Marlboro Board of Trustees, said in a statement that âMarlboro Music has come to agreement with Democracy Builders Fund â our landlord this past year, following the closure of Marlboro College â to purchase the Marlboro campus that has been our only home since 1951. This arrangement includes an amicable settlement with Type 1 Civilization, which has been engaged with Democracy Builders in a dispute over ownership rights.â
