Matthews served the citizens of Marlborough for nearly 32 years. Thank you for your service Firefighter Matthews. Congratulations to Lt. Mark Assencoa on his retirement. from the Marlborough Fire Department. Assencoa served the citizens of Marlborough for 32 years. Assencoa started his career in 1989 and was always well involved within the community. He will be affectionately remembered as Firefighter Mark by many of the children in Marlborough for the years he spent teaching fire safety in the schools.

SAMPLER: Fire captain retires after 35 years Mary Wenzel Congratulations go to Captain Stephen “The Colonel” Krysa who, after 35 years of dedicated service to the Marlborough Fire Department, retired. It was a sad day for the MFD as they were losing many, many years of experience. It will be tough to fill his shoes as an officer in the department, but through his journey he has imparted his wisdom to many firefighters. Thank you Captain Krysa, we wish you the absolute best in your retirement. MARLBOROUGH MAYOR ARTHUR VIGEANT stopped by the Early Childhood Center recently to read to the students for Read Across America Day which is in honor of Dr. Seuss Birthday which was March 2. It looked  as though the kids really enjoyed the reading from the Mayor, as did teachers Beth Duplessis and Sara Peek.

Electrical Fire at New Marlborough Residence

Electrical Fire at New Marlborough Residence Earlier this morning (Mar 2) at about 1:15 a.m. New Marlborough Fire & Rescue responded to a home in Clayton for a reported electrical fire. Reported on the New Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department s Facebook page, the homeowner shut the power off to the suspected problem area and called 9-1-1. Firefighter investigated and found an electric odor, but no smoke or fire. A limb on the wires leading to the home was discovered and believed to be the cause of the problem. The main power to the house was turned off as a precaution and the power company was called. It was recommended that an electrician inspect the electrical system. Additionally more and updated smoke alarms were recommended.
