The conference was sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation, county Federations and Alabama Farm Credit. An elite group of ninth and 10th graders from throughout Alabama attended the Alfa Youth Leadership Conference at the 4-H Center in Columbiana April 29-30. Students applied for the conference which focused on training future leaders. It is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation, county Farmers Federations and Alabama Farm Credit (AFC). âThis meeting helps prepare students to be future leaders, but in many cases theyâre already leaders in their school and community,â said Wiley Bailey, who helped coordinate the conference for the Federation. âItâs important to inspire young leaders and get them involved as advocates for agriculture and to encourage them to serve their communities.â ....
Youths recognized in YMCA-FCA scholarship program PRATTVILLE Jenna Stilling was surprised to hear her name called out Monday night as the winner of the Willis Bradford Christian Leadership Award. The Prattville Christian Academy senior was among six qualifiers from high schools serving Autauga County for the YMCA-Fellowship of Christian Athletes program. Jenna, a self-described introvert, said the presentation by Mike Lamar, a member of the Y s board, could have applied to any of the qualifiers. I read through the social media posts that the YMCA put out about a week ago and I knew that all those statements described every single one of the individuals out here so I really didn t expect it, she said. Being put into all the leadership positions has really challenged me to grow. I remember a quote from Carrie Fisher, she said Stay afraid, but do it anyway. I definitely apply that everyday where I m asked to speak in front of people or stand up and lea ....
