Savage has selected Octopi’s terminal operating system for a new intermodal terminal at Union Pacific’s rail yard in Pocatello, Idaho. Its teams will place loaded containers onto railcars that will be transported to the Northwest Seaport Alliance ports in Tacoma and Seattle, Wash.
Infrastructure engineering software firm Bentley Systems, Inc., has acquired Montreal-based INRO Software; Savage has selected a terminal operating system from Octopi, part of Navis and Cargotec Corp., for a new intermodal terminal at Union Pacific’s rail yard in Pocatello, Idaho.
Savage Selects Octopi by Navis for Idaho’s First Intermodal Terminal
Octopi, part of Navis and Cargotec Corporation, the provider of operational technologies and services that unlock greater performance and efficiency for leading organizations throughout the global shipping industry, announced today that Savage has selected Octopi by Navis’ cloud-based terminal operating system (TOS) for its intermodal rail terminal in Idaho. The terminal is expected to be operational by mid-year 2021 and once complete, it will be a top agricultural gateway and Idaho’s first intermodal terminal.

Octopi, part of Navis and Cargotec Corporation, the provider of operational technologies and services that unlock greater performance and efficiency for leading organizations throughout the global shipping industry, announced today that Coastal Cargo Company has signed a subscription agreement for Octopi by Navis for its terminal in New Orleans. Coastal Cargo Company selected Octopi to better handle its general cargo operations with a flexible, cloud-based solution.
With an annual throughput of one million metric tons, Coastal Cargo operates with stevedoring and port terminal operations capabilities to handle a mix of cargo at its facility. The terminal has ample berth and warehousing space on-site and also provides easy access to rail and the interstate highway system, which gives it a competitive edge over other terminals in the region.
