The Kent Historical Society has completed a grant project to organize and make available for research “The Marie Camp Collection,” a recent donation to their archival collection.
The project was made possible through funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and administered by the Connecticut State Library on behalf of the Connecticut State Historical Records Advisory Board and Conservation ConneCTion.
“The Camp Collection” was created by Marie Camp, longtime Kent resident and passionate local historian.
Included in the collection are Camp’s genealogical research files on different family names, historical notes on many town locations and documents relating to the Camp family and farming life in town during the 20th century.

Tracy Davis, a quality and care manager for Lakeland Care and Support Services in Ulverston, was searching for a helicopter to give her client Jim Simpson an experience of a lifetime after finding out he was an adrenaline junkie in his youth. On Christmas Eve, Tracy and 58-year-old’s core team took him to Doe Wood Lodges where he set off in a helicopter for a tour which went to Coniston, then back around Windermere for a view of Walney and Barrow from above.
