News - Marco Tullio Teixeira assumes South American Volleyball Confederation Presidency

News Mr Julio Perez Alfaro fills vacant CSV spot on FIVB Board of Administration Dr Marco Tullio Teixeira has assumed the Presidency of the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) until the end of the current mandate in 2024 following the sad passing of Dr Rafael Lloreda Currea. Former CSV Vice President Teixeira assumed the position as per CSV Regulations and brings a wealth of experience in sport to the role, both as former volleyball and beach volleyball player and high-level sports administrator. Teixeira began his sports career as a beach volleyball player, and also played volleyball for top Brazilian clubs such as Fluminense, Flamengo and Varese between 1976 and 1982. He also enjoyed a successful international career with the Brazil men’s national beach volleyball team, and was a silver medallist in a FIVB World Tour event in Spain in 1991.

FIVB elects new Board and amends Constitution at World Congress Saturday, 6 February 2021 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has elected 24 members and two gender-in-minority members who will join the governing body’s Board. The officials were elected during the second day of the virtual FIVB World Congress today and will join FIVB President Ary Graça and the five Continental Confederation heads to form the new Board. Asian Volleyball Confederation members to be elected included Australia’s Craig Carracher, China’s Cai Yi, Iran’s Mohammed Davarzani, Cook Islands’ Hugh Graham, Thailand’s Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai and Japan’s Kenji Shimaoka. African Volleyball Confederation members included Nigeria’s Habu Ahmed Gumel, Ivory Coast’s Sanga Issouf Kone and Botswana’s Daniel Molaodi.
