Grant supports historical collection

The Kent Historical Society has completed a grant project to organize and make available for research “The Marie Camp Collection,” a recent donation to their archival collection.
The project was made possible through funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and administered by the Connecticut State Library on behalf of the Connecticut State Historical Records Advisory Board and Conservation ConneCTion.
“The Camp Collection” was created by Marie Camp, longtime Kent resident and passionate local historian.
Included in the collection are Camp’s genealogical research files on different family names, historical notes on many town locations and documents relating to the Camp family and farming life in town during the 20th century.

Winsted - The Entrepreneurial Center of Northwest Connecticut is offering the workshop, How To Grow Your Business During The COVID-19 Pandemic, 6-8 p.m. Jan. 28, online. The seminar is sponsored by the Northwest Connecticut Economic Development Corporation with funding provided through the Economic Development Administration s CARES Act disaster recovery funds, according to a statement.
The event is free and open to the public although registration is required at Eventbrite.
The two-hour seminar will focus on how small to medium-sized businesses can improve their online visibility. Topics will include how to increase online visibility through Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), and local SEO; online marketing strategies that will help businesses target customers and keep them engaged; and understanding the importance of online re
