With 744 COVID-19 patients currently in hospitals in the Greater Montreal region, the prospect of critically ill patients being denied life-saving ventilators because of a lack of staffed intensive care beds is creeping closer to reality by the day.
Five hospital centres in the Montreal region are currently at capacity in terms of their dedicated COVID-19 ICU beds, including Pierre Boucher and Charles-Lemoyne hospitals in the Montérégie, Sacré-Cœur Hospital in Montreal, Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval and Ste-Croix Hospital in Drummondville.
