Young Activist And Military Veteran Works To Make A Difference

Ellen Brown KAREN B. HUNTER/ENTERPRISE For three years while at Barnstable High School, Sandwich resident Ellen T. Brown, 32, took a food training class through which, for extra credit, she volunteered to make meals for the homeless at the Noah Homeless Shelter in Hyannis. This experience, she said, engendered a lifelong passion to get involved, and to realize that she could make a positive difference in people’s lives. “My main passion is trying to lead by example whenever I think I can help,” Ms. Brown said during a recent interview at a local coffee shop. A graduate of Barnstable High School and Cape Cod Community College, Ms. Brown is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, where she taught nutrition.

Marshfield VFW hosting weekly food distribution

Wicked Local A nonprofit organization helping families in need has extended its reach to the South Shore, beginning weekly distribution of boxes of food at the Daniel Webster VFW Hall in Marshfield. The Massachusetts Military Support Foundation, working with the Marshfield Republican Town Committee and the Marshfield VFW, are distributing USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes every Friday to any individuals who may need them. “We are pleased to provide these USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes to families living in Marshfield and surrounding communities, said Don Cox, president of the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation. These boxes are filled with fresh, nourishing foods that the entire family can enjoy.”

Farmers to Families Food Boxes to be distributed Wicked Local Massachusetts Military Support Foundation will be distributing USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes to local families in Marshfield and surrounding communities on a weekly basis beginning from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Daniel Webster VFW Post 8345, 655 Main St., Marshfield.  “We are pleased to provide these USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes to families living in Marshfield and surrounding communities,” said Don Cox, president of Massachusetts Military Support Foundation. “These boxes are filled with fresh, nourishing foods that the entire family can enjoy.” Those wishing to receive food are asked to register on-line by visiting the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation at https://mmsfi.org. On the day of the food box distribution, individuals should arrive in a vehicle, remain in the vehicle and wear a surgical mask at all times. Volunteers will place the box in the vehicle’s trunk, back seat or pick-up
