NORRISTOWNÂ â Several appointments to the Higher Education & Health Authority board were opposed by Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale during Thursday s county Board of Commissioners meeting.
âIf the goal is to have . more county oversight on this specific board, perhaps appointing the solicitor or the county controller to oversee finances, or the legality of actions with the board would make sense,â Gale said Thursday. âBut this is a complete overhaul, and I just donât feel comfortable with that, and the precedent it sets moving forward.â
Montgomery County Commissionersâ Chairwoman Val Arkoosh recommended Jocelyn Gallagher, Barbara OâMalley, Tara Gaudin, Joshua Stein, and Jerry Nugent be appointed to serve on the Higher Education Health Authority Board.

NORRISTOWNÂ â A chunk of funds approved recently by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners dealt with the ongoing Ridge Pike Improvement Project.
Of the roughly $2.9 million authorized in a series of contracts and amendments during the May 6 meeting, the commissioners were presented with some big-ticket items.
One was an agreement not exceeding $1,334,994 with TRC Engineers Inc., of New York, N.Y., for construction inspection services.

The seven-figure contract between the New York-based firm and the countyâs Department of Assets and Infrastructure and Planning Commission, covered âSection Dâ of the long-term project, which covers Ridge Pike, from Crescent to Northwest avenues, located between Springfield and Whitemarsh townships to the Philadelphia city line.
