WHEELING West Virginia University seeks an 80% COVID vaccination rate on campus, while local colleges and universities have not yet formulated plans for their students’ return to campus in the fall.
WVU officials announced this week its COVID policy for the upcoming fall semester.
“At this time, WVU is not requiring vaccination, but it is strongly recommended,” WVU said in a released statement. “As the Emergency Use Authorizations are lifted by the Food and Drug Administration, the University may consider requiring COVID-19 vaccines for those who are not medically exempted.

Head vases always draw interest in the collectible world. Made in the mid-20th century, these charming oddities peaked in popularity in the 1950s and ’60s, about the same time Barbie made her entrance onto the American pop culture stage.
The pottery vases were often imported from Japan and used by florists for gift arrangements, though early examples might be made in the U.S.A. and the earliest examples date to the 1930s.
Generally showing a woman from the shoulders up, head vases remain popular with collectors today.
Even my grandchildren ask about the pretty lady vase in my china closet!

In this week’s Antique of the Week column, Maureen Zambito has an interesting article about collectible clocks and calendars. I don’t know about you, but I plan to burn all my 2020 calendars in the outdoor fire pit as we stand around and wish the year farewell.
And what a year for all of us. It’s not easy to look back and recall all the good things when so much ink was spent on the pandemic that disrupted our lives in so many ways.
However, I looked over my calendar, especially the past 10 months, and realized there were positive things that happened and good times shared on these pages.
