WWE is continuing to pare down their talent roster, announcing on Wednesday that Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett have all been released.
The 37-year-old Strowman was last seen at May s WrestleMania Backlash, competing against WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre in a triple threat and had been involved in the Raw main event mix for several months.
A member of the WWE system since 2013, Strowman is a former Universal Champion, Intercontinental Champion and a two-time Raw Tag Team Champion.
After a long absence following his wife Zelina Vega s release last fall, Aleister Black had finally made his return to SmackDown at the end of May following several weeks of vignettes and appeared to be set to start an angle with Big E. On Twitter, he said the decision came out of left field as they had just started his new Dark Father character.

They’ve been SmackDown Tag Team Champions for over 126 days as I write this, surpassing the Usos’ first reign to hold the third longest reign in that title’s relatively short history.
In that time, they’ve defended the titles. twice, a four-way at
WrestleMania SmackDown, and a followup two-on-two defense the next week against the Street Profits.
By comparison, in the longest reign with the titles, at 182 days, the Usos defended the titles six times, and the Bludgeon Brothers 135-day number two reign
From the moment it was announced, there were multiple reactions, ranging from:
Ew. Why did they tack “WrestleMania” onto Backlash like that?
Wow. WWE is really going to try to capitalize off the WrestleMania branding like that? That’s cheap.
Ha! Is the next event after that going to be “WrestleMania Money in the Bank” and eventually, “WrestleMania SummerSlam” and “WrestleMania Survivor Series” and such? );
Of course, we know one of the reasons WWE is doing this, because it’s the most obvious of the bunch: WrestleMania is the biggest event of the year and by tacking that name onto this, it’s a marketing strategy to try to fool people into thinking this is more important. It’s similar to how putting the price for $4.99

WrestleMania SmackDown, featured Daniel Bryan, Edge, and Roman Reigns each getting some time on the microphone to cut a promo to sell their triple threat match for the Universal championship on night two of
WrestleMania 37 this Sun., April 11, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
