In case you missed the news this week, Colorado lawmakers approved a bill that will allow restaurants to continue selling beer, wine and spirits to go for another four years and possibly longer. Although the measure faced some opposition from liquor stores, it was overwhelmingly popular under the Capitol dome. Prior to the pandemic, eateries weren t allowed to sell takeaway booze, but Governor Polis signed and then extended an executive order allowing them to do so as a way to help the restaurants survive while they weren t allowed to host customers on site or had limited capacities. The order expires on June 30. ....
The six Grand County breweries that participated in the collaborative East Troublesome Pale Ale initiative were able to help raise $34,000 for the Grand Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps people who were evacuated, displaced or lost their homes to the devastating East Troublesome wildfire last year. And 27 home brewers who entered the East Troublesome home-brew competition were also part of the fundraising effort. Root Shoot Malting, alongside Colorado Hop Company and Propagate Labs, donated ingredients to the breweries for the beer; the recipe and ingredients were then made available to the home brewers, who were encouraged to brew their own version of the benefit beer, Root Shoot says. ....

His iconic hearts represent the many layers of love and the City of Denver s loving energy for those who call it home. The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG), a nonprofit trade organization for independent craft breweries in the State of Craft Beer, is announcing member breweries that are participating in Firkin February. What and When: It’s Firkin February! All month long Colorado craft breweries will be releasing their firkins to the public. A firkin is a specific size of a cask, a ¼ of a barrel that often looks like a mini keg. Breweries are able to put their creativity in this vessel infusing beer with Phillipine coconut, Sour Patch Kids, Ancho Chiles and mango, and more. $20 per firkin will be donated to the Colorado Brewers Guild. ....
