The National Malaria Control Programme (NAMCOP) and its partners have organised a one-day training workshop for health workers in the control of mosquitoes known as Larval Source Management (LSM).
The LSM is a targeted management of mosquito breeding sites, with the objective of reducing the number of mosquito larvae and pupae. The workshop was held in Bogatanga in the Upper East Region.
The partners are the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL).
Training
The LSM training, which will be replicated across the country, brought together about 70 health workers from 10 districts in the region.

The National Malaria Control Programme (NAMCOP) and its partners Ghana Health Service (GHS), Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research (NMIMR) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) have organised a one-day training workshop in Larval Source Management (LSM) for key stakeholders in the Upper East regional capital Bolgatanga.
The LSM training, which will be replicated across the country, brought together about seventy (70) health workers from ten districts in the Upper East.
The participants were equipped with knowledge and techniques in LSM, a vector control tool, targeted at mosquito breeding sites, with the aim of reducing mosquito breeding in the country.
